Tim and Rachel's story continued...
Judy & Mandy met us at the airport, which after a 26 hour flight with 2 small children in tow this was worth the fee in itself! They then proceeded to escort us to our car hire collection point and wait whilst we had to change car seats etc..
Ok, so we were in Australia we had our car now what? No need to worry - Judy & Mandy had already been provided with our accomodation details and had phoned ahead in our absence to ensure we would be able to check in when we arrived. Then duly escorted us to our accomodation and provided us with a brief introduction on where the nearest shops etc.. were if we wanted to stock up on the basics. After further assuring the ladies that we would be ok finding the shops on our own we said our goodbyes - leaving full contact information and a plea to call them at any time of the day or night if we had any concerns etc... we arranged to meet them a couple of days later (after we had adjusted to the time difference).
The next time we met Mandy & Judy they had arranged house viewings, a tour of the areas we had said we were particulary interested in and even made provision to stop at a childrens park so that there was something for everyone! Honestly it was a godsend. Throughout our 2 weeks in Adelaide Mandy & Judy were a constant source of information, helpful tips and assurance to us, nothing we asked for or needed to know was too much trouble and on many occasions, due to their experience of having been in our positions once, they had already arranged or clarified things that we had not yet thought about (driving licences; Tax numbers; medicare registration to name but a few!). They even took the time to arrange for us to visit a family that they had helped to relocate some 2 years earlier and ensure we had suitable time and opportunity to grill recent emigrants and find out what 'living the dream' is like on a daily basis. Once again an experience that you do not realise the benefit of until after the event!
Without writing an entire chapter to summarise the service:
To anyone thinking of making the move Home 2 Home provide a 'must have' source of information and orientation of Adelaide, the benefits of which you do not realise you need until you have them! Throughout the entire visa process which in itself is an expensive exercise enlisting Home 2 Home has been the most beneficial and cost effective element and after some initial reservation, we all agree it was the only way to familiarise ourselves with the 'unknown'. We would have no hesitation in recommending Home 2 Home to anyone - thanks a bunch ladies!!!!!
